Seismic — Industry Experience

Seismic events at nuclear power plants have been documented across a range of earthquake magnitudes and plant responses, from minor ground motion events that triggered seismic instrumentation without plant impact to severe earthquakes that affected multiple safety systems, including the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. The operating experience record covers plant responses, post-earthquake inspections, and the evolution of seismic mitigation practices.

For the hazard description and assessment methodology, see Seismic.
