Among external hazards, extreme temperature events have historically produced operational consequences, such as power derates, planned shutdowns, and limiting conditions for operation, rather than safety-significant consequences. The most consequential and recurring operational experience involves elevated ultimate heat sink (UHS) water temperatures that approach or exceed thermal discharge limits imposed by environmental regulations. High UHS temperatures can also challenge dependent cooling systems, and low temperatures can cause icing and freeze damage to sensitive outdoor equipment.&lt;br /&gt;
